explores the boundaries of musical and dance experience with a wide range of study programmes. Its graduates are successful soloists on prominent world stages, and are also found in orchestras, theatres, and educational institutions around the world.
HAMU seeks to give its students the best space to grow and exhibit their talents, such as through public performances or seeking cooperation with domestic professional partners that come from prominent orchestras, theatres, or media organisations. The campus is located conveniently in Prague’s historical town centre, with facilities spread throughout several buildings, including music halls, practice rooms, an open-air stage, library, club stage, research facility, and recording studio.
Students can pursue various music study programmes, including composition; conducting; voice and opera directing; keyboard, wind, string and percussion instruments; chamber music and jazz interpretation; and sound design and music management. In the art of dance programme, instruction is provided in choreography, dance science, dance pedagogy, and non-verbal theatre. For most fields, students can also earn a teaching credential if they decide to pursue a career in music and dance education.
