GEMMA (Erasmus Mundus Master’s Degree in Women's and Gender Studies) is a two-year Postgraduate interdisciplinary study programme that provides high quality education and professional competences for personnel working or intending to work in the areas of Women's Studies, Gender Studies and Equal Opportunities across Europe and beyond.
The GEMMA Master is coordinated by the University of Granada and it is jointly taught at the following European Universities, highly renowned in the field of Women’s and Gender Studies:
Students benefit from international mobility as they study at two different European universities and obtain a double diploma from the Home and Mobility institutions. They can also conduct research outside Europe and participate in internships. The GEMMA Master has 41 associated partners, including 45 prestigious partners such as the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), Universidad Estatal de Campinas in Sao Paulo (Brazil), Universidad de Chile (Chile), Florida International University (USA), Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), etc.
GEMMA is the first Erasmus Mundus Master´s Degree in Women's and Gender Studies in Europe. It was originally selected by the European Commission in 2006, again in 2011 and 2017, and a fourth time in 2019. It is, therefore, a programme of excellence distinguished from amongst 150 submitted project proposals as “a pilot project and model in the field of Women´s Studies and Gender Studies from a European and global perspective”.
At the end of their studies, GEMMA students obtain a double degree, issued by the two institutions where they have conducted their studies.
Prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarships under the framework of Erasmus + are offered to NON EUROPEAN STUDENTS*. The scholarships cover tuition fees, health insurance and travel and installation costs and include a monthly allowance.
In addition, there are scholarships for SCHOLARS who wish to complete a 2 to 4 weeks research and teaching visit of at one of the GEMMA Consortium partner universities.
