Mechanical engineers focus on design, analyses and maintenance of machinery, structures and products as well as production processes.
The two-year Master’s in Mechanical Engineering is an internationally oriented programme and is taught entirely in English. You can start on the 1st of September and the 1st of February. The Pre-master's starts in September. Students with an international bachelor degree can only apply directly to the master programme and do not have the possibility to participate in a Pre-master's programme.
Almost every aspect of our modern world is in some way a product of mechanical engineering, from power stations and oil refineries to steel plants, flood barriers and hearing aids. Mechanical engineers are behind all of our modern means of transport and they are also responsible for innovations in fields such as biomedicine. They contribute in the Research & Development phase as well as the Design & Construction phase and are involved in the Organization & Management. These three competences are represented in the three competence profiles within the ME programme at UT.
Our research focuses on developing expertise that spans the entire life cycle of systems and objects, from initiation to design, production, operation, maintenance and demolition, inspired by the ideals of benefit to society and respect for the environment. During the master thesis assignment, students will specialise in one of these areas.
From large scale installations to precision medical devices, mechanical engineers put high-tech solutions in a human context. The Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering will train you to be an expert who understands the entire process, from generating initial ideas to design and analysis, onward to the development of products, processes and systems, and maintenance and end of life recycling. The programme offers unique opportunities to combine various disciplines and will encourage you push the envelope of what is possible.
A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is an excellent starting point for a fascinating and fulfilling career. Our graduates find jobs in research institutes, development departments in industry, design & construction companies, government agencies, or at universities as a PhD or PDEng.
